From Opera Date to Still Life....

This is the first painting I did containing my red shoes, red jacket, Valentines chocolates, etc.  It was juried into the Transitions exhibit at the Federation Gallery, April 9 - 21, 2013.

Drawing Workshop.....

I did these two drawings (both unfinished) at a Noah Layne workshop held by Suite 'E' Life Drawing.  The first one is of model Christine (hair partially done) on white paper with hb and 2b pencil.  The second one is of model Coral, on gray paper with white pastel accents and hb and 2b pencil.  It was nice to be able to spend 3-4 hours on one drawing, and the models were excellent.

After The Opera

I just completed this painting, "After the Opera".  It has some of my favourite things....red high heels and red leather jacket from my closet, chocolates from Rubens, fabric from my extensive and out of control fabric collection, a program from the Vancouver Opera Romeo and Juliet, and an empty coffee cup (addicted to coffee).  It is 16 x 16 and acrylic on canvas.

Nature Reclaims The Railway

This is a 9x12" acrylic painting (framed).  It is a closeup view of nature at work, doing what she does best.  This image was collected while on a walk around the inlet in Port Moody.  Part of the railway is used only occasionally on Canada day, and nature is quick to reclaim what she lost.

Emerging II

This painting was originally called Emerging, and was accepted into an abstract show at the Federation Gallery at Granville Island.  After I got it back from the show, I decided to make a few changes to the painting, and like it better now.  It will be displayed at the Port Moody Art Show, November 2,3,4.  The origin of the image was from a photo of oil stains on the concrete in the parking lot underneath the city hall in Port Moody.

Want your portrait painted or drawn?

If you live in Port Moody, BC, and would like your portrait painted or drawn, send me a photo of yourself and a little blurb on why you would like it done!  You can also send a pic of anyone who you consider is/was important to the history of Port Moody, BC.   I will need contact information (email is fine).  If you are selected, you will get it done.  However, you will not have any say over the final composition, as that is the artists perogative!  You don't have to be famous or good looking (but if you happen to be either or both okay)....just send an your story, which will be included in the exhibition, as will the finished work.  Have you embarked on a transformational journey (working out at the gym every day?  starting something new of any ilk?)?  Do you serve the public every day in Port Moody?  Did one of your grandparents live in Port Moody?  Do you walk the trail around the inlet every day?  You can be anybody of any age, just send in your pic and blurb.

Why I am I doing this?

Well, next year is the centennial for Port Moody, and the group Suite 'E' Lifedrawing is doing a show at the Port Moody Art gallery next summer that is all portraits of citizens for the centennial celebrations.
